'Catch Bangladesh Catch' is an initiative of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) CWC 2011 Bangladesh and is assisted by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and Dhaka District Sports Association.
The 'Catch Bangladesh Catch' rally started from the Dhaka National Eidgah Gate. The colourful and vibrant procession then stopped at the Paltan Maidan for a formal inauguration ceremony.
A whole host of dignitaries including BCB president AHM Mustafa Kamal, FCA, MP and convenor of LOC Bangladesh Dewan Shafiul Arefin Tutul were present for the launch. Also present were Directors and officials of BCB and Dhaka District Sports Association. Former Bangladesh opener Javed Omer Belim and paceman Mohammad Sharif were also present at the inauguration.
The BCB President, who inaugurated the road show, said that the country was already in the grips of cricket fever and this roadshow will act as a further catalyst. LOC Bangladesh Convenor Tutul urged people of all ages to celebrate the roadshow.
The assembled audience was then treated to a 'catch the ball' competition with winners being presented ICC CWC 2011 merchandise. Popular band group Lalon then entertained the crowd with their popular numbers.
The 'Catch Bangladesh Catch' caravan will hit the road on two routes from Dhaka for Rajshahi and Brahmanbaria on Tuesday, 21 December.
