Battling poor form, South African opener Herschelle Gibbs is not too hopeful of making it to the national squad for ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 which would be his fourth if selected.

"There is very little One-Day International cricket before the group is selected. The batsmen in the South African squad performed superbly in the recent series against the West Indies and Zimbabwe. I will have to make a really good impression," the 36-year-old told the Afrikaans daily 'Beeld'.

"We'll have to see how things work out. (Selection committee head) Andrew Hudson told me at the start of the season that they want to give an opportunity to some of the younger players," he added.

The ICC Cricket World Cup will be jointly hosted by India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh from February next year.

The dashing opener is convinced that he can regain his form. He has not played an ODI for the national team since February.

"I have practised very hard for the past few weeks and I feel good. I can't wait for the games to start."
