Australia’s new Prime Minister, Tony Abbott, and New Zealand Prime Minister John Key have had their first official meeting, 500 days from the start of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.

Fourteen cities across New Zealand and Australia will host the world’s best cricket teams as they battle for supremacy in the 50-over tournament during February and March 2015.

The two national leaders took a break from their talks in Canberra today to pose with the World Cup trophy and said they looked forward to welcoming cricket fans from around the world.

The ICC Cricket World Cup is one of the biggest events in international sport with more than a million people expected to attend matches and more than billion people likely to watch on television.

Ticket information for the tournament will be released next month.

Full ticketing details will be announced in November, but fans are encouraged to register at www.cricketworldcup.com to secure access to pre-sales for all ICC Cricket World Cup matches, including the finals series.
