With just 348 days until the start of the tournament, the official ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 Facebook page has surpassed one million fans

Launched in March 2013 to coincide with the “Two Years to Go until the final” milestone, the page has grown steadily over the past year, attracting cricket fans from around the world so they can be the first to know about tournament news, get behind the scenes access with players and join the conversation with others.

John Harnden, Chief Executive of the Local Organising Committee for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, said it was important to be able to provide an offering for fans to join in the build up to the tournament.

“Digital platforms are becoming some of the most powerful communication tools for sporting organisations and major events. We’re able to connect one on one with our fans and use media like Facebook as important customer service tools and ensure fans know we are listening,” said Mr Harnden.

“We want this to be the most social ICC Cricket World Cup. A big thanks to all of our fans who have supported us so far, and we’re looking forward to welcoming more fans in the lead up to 2015.”
