Cricket World Cup trophy unites Modi and Abbott

India Prime Minister Narenda Modi and Australia Prime Minister Tony Abbott spoke of the common bonds between the two countries at a special function at the Melbourne Cricket Ground this week, taking a moment to have their photo with the ICC Cricket World Cup and Border-Gavaskar trophies.

Australia Prime Minister Tony Abbott was joined by India Prime Minister Narenda Modi at the MCG

They were joined by former India and Australia cricket greats Steve Waugh, Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, VVS Laxmen, Allan Border, Glenn McGrath and Dean Jones.

Speaking at the ground which will host the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 final, Prime Minister Narenda Modi spoke of Australia’s great sporting culture and the anticipation that is building up to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.
