Zimbabwe XI dismissed Canada for just 129 all out in 54.2 overs in the opening day of the four-day ICC Intercontinental Cup match played at Maple Leaf North-West Ground, Toronto on Monday.

Electing to bowl first, the visitors applied pressure on the batsmen early on as Canada began to lose wickets at regular intervals. Ed Rainsford (3-45), Tendai Chatara (3-21), Shingirai Masakadza (2-22) and Timycen Maruma (2-27) shared the wickets between them with only skipper Rizwan Cheema top-scoring with an unbeaten 46.

In reply, Zimbabwe XI suffered some setbacks losing opener Stuart Matsikenyeri (2) and Sean Williams (5) cheaply to Umar Bhatti (2-40). It finished the day at 88-3, with Vusi Sibanda (23) and Craig Ervine (27) remaining unbeaten, and Keith Dabengwa dismissed for 24.

Zimbabwe XI is currently third in the points table with 43 points from three games, which includes wins over Kenya by five wickets and Netherlands by 137 runs, and a drawn match against Afghanistan.

The hosts currently lie at the bottom of the points table with nine points from four games. It suffered losses to Scotland by 29 runs, Kenya by 247 runs, Afghanistan by six wickets and a drawn match against the Netherlands.
