Zimbabwe XI continued its winning run in the ICC Intercontinental Cup with an easy victory over Canada by an innings and 73 runs on Wednesday. Right-arm medium pacer Shinigirai Masakadza picked up five wickets to lead his side to victory on the third day of the four-day match played at Maple Leaf North-West Ground, Toronto.

The hosts began the day with a shaky 49-3 losing crucial batsmen at early overs to Tendai Chatara (2-7) and Masakadza (1-22) the previous day.

Masakadza continued to trouble the batsmen dismissing Bastiampillai for 26 runs. He then claimed Hemnarine Chattergoon (19) while Chatara dismissed Usman Limbabda (0). When skipper Rizwan Cheema fell to Masakadza, Canada lost three wickets for no runs. Masakadza then scalped Henry Osinde (12) to finish with 5-58 while Chatara finished with 3-18 to dismiss Canada for 129 all out.

With this victory, Zimbabwe XI rises to second in the points table with 63 points from four games, which includes wins over Kenya by five wickets and Netherlands by 137 runs, and a drawn match against Afghanistan.

Canada continues to lie at the bottom of the points table with nine points from five games. It had earlier suffered losses to Scotland by 29 runs, Kenya by 247 runs, Afghanistan by six wickets and a drawn match against the Netherlands.
