Ireland completed a comprehensive innings and 11 runs win over Canada on just the second day of its ICC Intercontinental Cup match at the Leinster Cricket Club in Dublin.

On an action packed Wednesday, Ireland's bowlers turned in a brilliant display to bowl out Canada twice on the same day.

The day began with Ireland starting from its overnight score of 435 for seven. But the tail did not wag much as Khurram Chohan (4-101) and Manny Aulakh (3-94) bowled well to restrict the Ireland innings to 462 all out in 104.5 overs.

Canada list wickets at regular intervals and slipped quite swiftly to 123 for five. Only Ruvindu Gunasekera (66: 71b, 8x4, 1x6) offered any resistance as Ireland bowlers struck at regular intervals.

Rizwan Cheema (28) and Khurram Chohan (33) played key cameo knocks but could not help Canada avoid the follow-on as the innings folded up for 194 in 44 overs, with the visitors falling short of the follow-on target by 74 runs.

For Ireland, John Mooney (2-28), Albert van der Merwe (5-70) and George Dockrell (2-60) picked up the wickets.

Canada trailed Ireland by 268 runs. Asked to follow-on, Canada quickly slipped to 66 for four. Only Cheema with a quickfire 97 off just 45 balls. with six boundaries and 10 sixes provided any resistance.

Cheema and Hamza Tariq (34) added 57 runs for the sixth wicket but it was too little late as Canada lost wickets at regular intervals.

In the end Ireland was bowled out for 257 in 49 overs, still 11 runs adrift. Ireland completed a comprehensive win with more than two days to go in the match.

For Ireland, Mooney (2-45), Phil Eaglestone (2-50), van der Merwe (3-61) and Dockrell (3-90) shared the wickets around.
