United Arab Emirates register a four-wicket win over Scotland in the first one-dayer in the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Championship at Sharjah on Wednesday.

Batting first, Scotland was bowled out for 167 and in its chase UAE overhauled the target in 47.5 overs to end at 171-6.

Earlier, Scotland asked to baat first, slipped to 93-6. Thereafter a 56-run stand for the seventh wicket between Craig Wallace (40) and Majid Haq (30). But there was no worthwhile contribution from any other batsman thereafter.

For UAE, skipper Khurram Khan (3-29) and Shadeep Silva (2-21) were the key wicket-takers.

In its chase, UAE lost early wickets and slipped to 35-4. It required a steady fifth wicket stand worth 82-run between Shaiman Anwar (58: 115b, 5x4, 1x6) and Swapnil Patil (55 not out: 99b, 4x4) ensured that there was no further alarms.

Patil stayed till the end to settle the issue for his side.

For Scotland Gordon Goudie (2-33) and Richie Berrington (2-15) were the key wicket-takers.

The second game between the two sides will be played on Friday, 9 March.
