Kevin O'Brien will lead Ireland in the absence of regular skipper William Porterfield.
Ireland meet Afghanistan in an ICC Intercontinental Cup match at Rathmines, starting on Monday, with plenty to play for.

The table-topping hosts can stretch their advantage with a victory while the third-placed visitors could move to within three points with a favourable result.

Ireland go into the match boosted by last week's Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Championship victory over the same team at Clontarf. Equally, Afghanistan will enter the game in the knowledge the hosts have lost six players from that encounter back to their English county sides - skipper Will Porterfield, George Dockrell, Ed Joyce, Tim Murtagh, Niall O'Brien and Gary Wilson.

Kevin O'Brien will lead the home team in his place while Merrion all-rounder John Anderson and teenage Instonians spinner Ben Wylie are included in the senior side for the first time.
