Raymond van Schoor and Sarel Burger led a fine comeback by Namibia on the opening day of their ICC Intercontinental Cup match against Netherlands in Windhoek, as they reached 264/7 at stumps.

After Namibia had crashed to 53 for four wickets, the two shared a fifth wicket partnership of 163 runs to revive Namibia's fortunes and bring them back into the game.

Van Schoor went on to reach a century before being dismissed for 110, while Burger was out for 71.

It was a great recovery by the home side after Holland had dominated the morning session.

Holland elected to bowl after winning the toss and Mudassar Bukhari soon made the breakthrough, bowling Xander Pitchers for one run, with the total on two.

Pikky Ya France and Stephan Baard shared a second wicket stand of 38 runs before Netherlands' medium pacer Timm van der Gugten struck with three wickets in quick succession.

He had Baard caught on the boundary for 26 and Craig Williams caught at point for 6, before removing Ya France for 13 caught behind, as Namibia crashed to 53/4.

Namibia were in deep trouble but captain Sarel Burger and Raymond van Schoor came to the rescue with a fine partnership.

Van Schoor soon got into his stride as he hit some exquisite off drives and late cuts and went on to reach his 50 off 83 balls which included seven fours.

Burger was solid throughout giving nothing to chance and reached his 50 off 106 balls, which included three fours and two consecutive sixes off Seelaar.

The breakthrough finally came in the final hour when Van der Gugten returned to the attack and had Burger caught behind for 71.

Shortly afterwards Van Schoor reached his century with another classic drive to the boundary, but he did not last long, as he too, was caught by Borren off Van der Gugten for 110, which included 13 fours.

Van der Gugten made another breakthrough shortly before the close when he had Nicolaas Scholtz caught behind for five, and at stumps, Christi Viljoen and Bernard Scholtz were still at the crease on 11 runs each.

Van der Gugten was Netherlands' best bowler, taking five wickets for 61 runs off 26 overs, while Mudassar Bukhari took two for 36 off 17 overs.
