Asghar Stanikzai starred with an unbeaten 127 to give Afghanistan a firm grip on its four-day match against Namibia. At stumps on Monday (August 5), the second day's play, Afghanistan were 345-8, leading by 155 runs.

Afghanistan resumed on its overnight 62-1, with Nawroz Mangal batting on a half-century. However, Mangal couldn't capitalise on his start and departed for 59.

Bernard Scholtz was Namibia's best bowler, and ended with 5 for 123, with Jason Davidson, Christi Viljoen and Sarel Burger contributing a wicket each.

Small but significant partnerships with Stanikzai steadfast at one end saw the Afghanistan lower order take it past Namibia.

The eight wicket partnership between Stanikzai and Dawlat Zadran yielded 88 runs with the latter scoring a half century.
