Sohag Gazi followed up his maiden Test century with a hat-trick to light up the final stages of the first Test against New Zealand, which ended in a draw in Chittagong on Sunday (October 13).

On the fifth day, New Zealand declared its second innings at 287 for 7, leaving Bangladesh a target of 256 runs in a minimum of 45 overs to win the Test, but Bangladesh could only reach 173 for 3 in 49 overs with Shakib Al Hasan unbeaten on 50 and Mominul Haque on 22 at the crease.

Earlier, Gazi took 6 for 77 – he picked all six New Zealand wickets to fall on the day – to trigger New Zealand’s collapse in the second session.

The second Test will be played in Dhaka from October 21 to 25, followed by three One-Day Internationals and one Twenty20 International match.
