Canada thrashes hapless Uganda by 44 runs - Cricket News
Jimmy Hansra was named the Man of the Match for his half-century as Canada registered its first win of the tournament.
Canada registered a 44-run victory over Uganda in the 28th match of the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier at Sheikh Zayed Stadium Nursery 1 in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday (November 19).

Winning the toss and batting, Canada was struck by early blows from Frank Nsubuga and Davis Arinaitwe, the off-spinners, who dismissed Hamza Tariq and Ruvindu Gunasekera for single figure scores as well. Ashish Bagai and Jimmy Hansra consolidated the Canada innings scoring 40 and an unbeaten 58 respectively but there were few contributions from the others and Canada finished at 137 for 7 in 20 overs. Arinaitwe and Roger Mukasa bagged two wickets each for Uganda.

In reply, Uganda lost two wickets in the first over itself. Phillimon Selowa and Arinaitwe contributed with 21 and 28 respectively but lacked support from the other batsmen and the Ugandan innings folded for a paltry 93 runs in 17.2 overs. Jeremy Gordon, the medium pacer, and Abzal Dean picked up two wickets each as Canada cruised to a 44-wicket victory.

Hansra was named the Man of the Match for his half-century as Canada registered its first win of the tournament. Uganda will face United States of America on Thursday in search of its second victory as Canada takes on UAE in its Group A tie on Friday.
