Afghanistan storms into Qualifier final

Nawroz Mangal stars in comfortable seven-wicket win over Nepal

Afghanistan storms into Qualifier final - Cricket News
Afghanistan enter Qualifier finals by beating Nepal by seven wickets.
Afghanistan beats Nepal by seven wickets at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Friday (November 29) to reach the final of the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier.
After restricting Nepal to a modest 90 for 8, Afghanistan, led by Nawroz Mangal, cruised home with 34 balls to spare.
Nepal was pegged back right at the outset as Izatullah Dawlatzai's double strike reduced it to 11 for 2 in the fourth over. There wasn't to be a fightback from the middle order either as Gyanendra Malla (14) and Paras Khadka (13), the captain, were also dismissed cheaply after putting up 21 together.
With that being the highest partnership of the innings, Nepal was never going to challenge Afghanistan's might barring a miracle. It was only due to some late hitting by Sharad Vesawkar, who remained unbeaten on 27, that Nepal completed its quota of 20 overs.
Samiullah Shenwari returned figures of 3 for 19 in his four overs, while Dawlatzai and Dawlat Zadran picked up two wickets apiece.
Afghanistan lost its openers early while Noor Ali Zadran had to retire hurt due to cramps in the second over. Mangal then put together 69 runs with Shenwari (24*) to ensure Afghanistan stayed on course for victory.
Mangal was eventually stumped off Basant Regmi for 48 off just 34 balls, but Afghanistan was only 11 runs short of victory at that stage. Gulbadin Naib finished the game with a six to guide Afghanistan to the final, where it will face Ireland on Saturday (November 30).
