Pakistan beats Afghanistan in last over

Mohammad Hafeez hits unbeaten 42 as Pakistan wins off last ball

Pakistan beats Afghanistan in last over - Cricket News
Mohammad Hafeez guided Pakistan to a victory over Afghanistan.
Pakistan defeated Afghanistan by six wickets to win the first-ever Twenty20 International between the two countries at Sharjah on Sunday (December 8).
Afghanistan put up a commendable fight, posting 137 for 8 in 20 overs, which Pakistan managed to overhaul for the loss of four wickets off the last ball of the match.
Batting first, Afghanistan rode on Najibullah Zadran’s 30-ball 38 and an unbeaten 28 in 22 balls from Mirwais Ashraf to reach a competitive total. Wickets went down at regular intervals in the Afghanistan innings as Sohail Tanvir – 2 for 11 in four overs – and Hafeez, who conceded 13 runs in his four overs after opening the bowling, kept things tight.
The Pakistan reply got off to a decent start with Ahmed Shehzad and Sharjeel Khan putting together 49 runs before Shehzad was dismissed in the eighth over with 49 on the board after scoring a 37-ball 35. Sharjeel went soon after, having scored a 16-ball 18.
It then fell upon Hafeez, batting at No. 3, and Umar Akmal to resurrect the innings, and they did exactly that with a 47-run stand for the third wicket before Akmal went for a 23-ball 28 in which he hit two sixes.
Sohaib Maqsood was also dismissed after that, but Hafeez, with an unbeaten 42 in 37 balls, took Pakistan home in Shahid Afridi’s company off the final ball in the innings.
