Bangladesh’s Sohag Gazi has rocketed up the Reliance ICC Player Rankings for Tests after becoming the first cricketer to score a century and take a hat-trick in a Test as the Chittagong Test against New Zealand ended in a draw on Sunday.

Sohag followed up his unbeaten 101 in Bangladesh’s first innings total of 501 with a hat-trick on the final day. This achievement has seen him make upward movements in all the three categories.

In the Reliance ICC Player Rankings for Test batsmen, Sohag has moved up 37 places to 119th while in the Reliance ICC Player Rankings for Test bowlers, the 22-year-old off-spinner has jumped 13 places to 36th. In the Reliance ICC Player Rankings for Test all-rounders, Sohag has gained 29 places and now sits in 31st spot.

The home team’s Mominul Haque, who scored his maiden Test century while on his way to making 181, has broken into the top 50 for the first time in his career. He now sits in 49th position after rising 43 places.

New Zealand’s Kane Williamson, BJ Watling and Peter Fulton have also made gains in the latest rankings that were released on Sunday morning.

Williamson has been rewarded for his innings of 114 and 74 with a jump of 11 places that has put him in 26th position, Watling has gained four places and is now in 59th spot after scoring 103 in the first innings, and Fulton has moved up eight places to 67th after innings of 73 and 59.

The batting table is headed by South Africa’s Hashim Amla with Shivnarine Chanderpaul second and AB de Villiers third.

There is no major change in the top 20 in the bowling table that is headed by Dale Steyn of South Africa.
