The Nepal cricket team with WASH United, one of the ICC Corporate Social Responsibility partner, took part in a hand washing session to educate 40 school children on the benefits of good hygiene in the Fatullah Outer stadium in Dhaka on Thurday (March 13).

Supported by its mascot for the tournament, ‘Happy’, the hand-washing tiger, the initiative aims to eliminate diarrhoea in Bangladesh and in all of South Asia. All the Nepal players took part in the activity which was followed by the hand washing game. Slow left-arm orthodox bowler Shakti Gauchan led the hand washing game.

WASH United, an international organisation that harnesses the power of sports, games, fun and positive communication to promote sanitation and good hygiene in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, will also be the charity partner for the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 2014 and is also the ICC’s charity partner for the School Contact Programme.

The organisation has also educated more than 100,000 children in good hygiene behaviour.
