Lega Siaka of Papua New Guinea acknowledges his temamates after reaching his century.
Papua New Guinea put up an impressive all-round show to beat Namibia by eight wickets at Mount Maunganui on Thursday (January 23), in the process qualifying for the Super Six round of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier tournament.

Opener Lega Siaka continued his good run in the tournament with an unbeaten 112 to lead PNG to its target of 164 with 25 overs to spare. Siaka pulverised Namibia’s bowling attack smashing nine fours and seven sixes in his 82-ball innings.

Earlier, choosing to bat, Namibia suffered early losses to be reduced to 16 for 4 inside the first six overs. Craig Williams and Gerrie Syman tried to repair the damage with a steady fifth-wicket partnership of 51, but failed to carry the good work forward as Williams fell to Charles Amini for 27. Snyman went on to score 54 before falling to Mahuru Dai, who struck twice more to finish with figures of 3 for 34. Charles Amini, Pipi Raho and Chris Amini picked up two wickets each.

PNG toppled Namibia for the top spot in the Group B table, both finishing on six points but PNG nosing ahead with a superior run rate.
