Tamim, bowlers give Bangladesh victory - Cricket News
Tamim Iqbal returned from injury to score a 30-ball 43 as Bangladesh beat UAE by four wickets.
Tamim Iqbal returned from injury and struck 43 off 30 balls as Bangladesh opened with a four-wicket win over United Arab Emirates in a warm-up match of the ICC World Twenty20 2014 on Wednesday (March 12).

UAE had put up 142 for 7 in 20 overs after electing to bat at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, and Bangladesh scored 146 for 6 to chase down the target in 18.5 overs, with Tamim, who had missed the recently concluded Asia Cup with a neck strain, making a successful return.

The top order got UAE off to a good start, with Amjad Ali (19) and Faizan Asif (31), the openers, adding 32 in 4.4 overs. Asif added 31 more with Khurram Khan, the captain, and at 63 for 1 after 8.1 overs, UAE looked set for a big score.

However, Asif and Swapnil Patil departed in quick succession, after which Khurram added 45 more for the fourth wicket with Shaiman Anwar (19). Khurram was castled by Farhad Reza for a 35-ball 44. After his dismissal, some quick strikes restricted UAE to a reasonable total.

Tamim anchored Bangladesh’s chase, even as wickets fell around him. He added 58 with Mushfiqur Rahim (27), the captain, for the third wicket to keep the chase steady. Tamim fell in the 11th over, and two quick wickets by Amjad Javed then left Bangladesh in a spot of bother at 112 for 6.

However, Mahmudullah (29* off 18 balls) and Reza (14* off seven balls) ensured Bangladesh got over the line with seven balls to spare.

Manjula Guruge and Javed both took 2 for 25 in four overs each.

UAE will take on Nepal next, while Bangladesh faces Ireland on Friday.
