Pakistan rout New Zealand for 1-0 lead - Cricket News
Imran Khan finished with 2 for 37.
Pakistan eased to a 248-run victory on day 5 of the first Test against New Zealand in Abu Dhabi on Thursday (November 13), taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
With the win, Misbah-ul-Haq became Pakistan’s most successful captain – 15 wins in 33 Tests – going ahead of Imran Khan and Javed Miandad’s records of 14 wins from 48 and 34 Tests respectively.
Mark Craig and Ish Sodhi resumed the day on 174 for 8, Pakistan needing just two wickets for their third straight Test win. However, the tail-enders delayed the victory. Craig, who had batted for 14.5 overs on Wednesday, was bowled on 28 by Yasir Shah, the leg-spinner, in the second over of Thursday. But Sodhi continued to defy the bowling, adding 54 for the last wicket with Trent Boult (19*), on his way to a career-best 63.
New Zealand finally folded for 231 in 70.3 overs when Sodhi was trapped leg-before by Imran Khan, the right-arm medium pacer.

Imran finished with 2 for 37, Shah with 3 for 74, while Zulfiqar Babar and Rahat Ali, both returned identical figures of 2 for 48.
Earlier in the game, Ahmed Shehzad had hit a career-best 176 in Pakistan’s first innings total of 566 for 3 declared.
Younis Khan, Misbah, Tom Latham and Mohammad Hafeez all made hundreds in the match.
The second Test starts in Dubai on November 17 while the third and final Test will be played in Sharjah from November 26.
