The ICC has confirmed that the Event Technical Committee of the ICC World Twenty20 Bangladesh 2014 has approved Aftab Alam as a replacement player for Hamid Hassan in the Afghanistan squad for the tournament that will be staged in Bangladesh from 16 March to 6 April.

Hamid suffered an injury in the ongoing Asia Cup and, as such, has been ruled out of the ICC World Twenty20 2014.

Aftab, a 21-year-old right-arm medium-fast bowler, has played three One-Day Internationals and as many Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). He played in the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier UAE 2012, but missed last year’s event which was also staged in the UAE.
