Doug Bollinger to replace Mitchell Johnson in Australia’s squad for ICC World Twenty20 2014
The ICC has confirmed that the Event Technical Committee of the ICC World Twenty20 Bangladesh 2014 has approved Doug Bollinger as a replacement player for Mitchell Johnson in the Australia’s men’s squad for the tournament, which starts today (Sunday).
Johnson has been ruled out of the tournament due to a toe infection.
Bollinger, 32, has played two T20Is which were against South Africa in October 2011.
The replacement of a player requires the approval of the Event Technical Committee before the replacement player can be officially added to the squad.
The Event Technical Committee of the ICC World Twenty20 Bangladesh 2014 consists of Geoff Allardice (ICC, chairman), Campbell Jamieson (IDI representative), Mahbubul Anam (BCB Director), Khaled Mahmud Sujan (BCB Director and former captain), Russel Arnold (independent nominee) and Mpumelelo Mbangwa (independent nominee).
Australia will open its tournament against Pakistan at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Sunday 23 March.
