Mohammad Ziaur Rahman to join in as replacement for Rubel Hossain for the ICC World Twenty20 2014
The ICC has confirmed that the Event Technical Committee of the ICC World Twenty20 Bangladesh 2014 has approved Mohammad Ziaur Rahman as a replacement player for Rubel Hossain in the Bangladesh men’s squad for the tournament which runs until 6 April.
Rubel dislocated a finger during Bangladesh’s last game against Hong Kong and, therefore, has been ruled out of the tournament.
Ziaur, 27, is a right-handed all-rounder who has played in 11 T20Is in which he has scored 108 runs and taken two wickets. He made his debut against Ireland in Belfast in July 2012 and played his last T20I against New Zealand in Mirpur in November 2013.
The replacement of a player requires the approval of the Event Technical Committee before the replacement player can be officially added to the squad.
The Event Technical Committee of the ICC World Twenty20 Bangladesh 2014 consists of Geoff Allardice (ICC, chairman), Campbell Jamieson (IDI representative), Mahbubul Anam (BCB Director), Khaled Mahmud Sujan (BCB Director and former captain), Russel Arnold (independent nominee) and Mpumelelo Mbangwa (independent nominee).
Bangladesh takes on defending champion the West Indies in its opening Super 10 stage match in Mirpur on Tuesday 25 March.
