Mortaza has been ruled out of the remainder of the World T20 with a knee injury.
The ICC has confirmed that the Event Technical Committee of the ICC World Twenty20 Bangladesh 2014 has approved Taskin Ahmed as a replacement player for Mashrafe Mortaza in the Bangladesh men’s squad for the tournament, which runs until 6 April.

Mashrafe sustained a knee injury during Bangladesh’s game against India on Friday and, therefore, has been ruled out of the tournament.

Taskin, 18, is a right-arm medium-fast bowler, who has played in four twenty20 matches and 10 first-class matches, in which he has taken eight wickets and 24 wickets, respectively.

The replacement of a player requires the approval of the Event Technical Committee before the replacement player can be officially added to the squad.

The Event Technical Committee of the ICC World Twenty20 Bangladesh 2014 consists of Geoff Allardice (ICC, chairman), Campbell Jamieson (IDI representative),  Mahbubul Anam (BCB Director), Khaled Mahmud Sujan (BCB Director and former captain), Russel Arnold (independent nominee) and Mpumelelo Mbangwa (independent nominee).

Bangladesh will play its final Group 2 match against Australia in Mirpur on Tuesday, 1 April.
