Heavy early morning showers in Amstelveen on Wednesday (September 16) pushed the second ICC World Cricket League Championship fixture between the Netherlands and Scotland into the reserve day.

With the ground completely soaked courtesy heavy rain that has hit the region for the last three days, Peter Nero and C Shamsuddin, the on-field umpires, decided to call off play a little over an hour after the scheduled 11.00 am start.

The scenario was quite similar to Tuesday, where no play was possible on the reserve day of the first fixture that resulted in both teams having to split points.

After Josh Davey, the Scotland pacer, did all the early running by picking three wickets, the Netherlands fought back courtesy a 126-run stand between Roelof van der Merwe (62 not out) and Peter Seelar (68) before the rains came down.

Both sides remain joint leaders in the points table with two wins from three matches.
