Captain Short was a highly-respected administrator in the Caribbean and beyond as well as a much-loved commentator of the game
It is with great sadness that the International Cricket Council (ICC) learned of the passing of Captain Peter Short, a past President of both the Barbados Cricket Association (1973-93) and the West Indies Cricket Board (1993-96), after a long illness. He later became that body's representative to the ICC.
Captain Short, 89, was a highly-respected administrator in the Caribbean and beyond as well as a much-loved commentator of the game, and his name is carried in the media centre in the Kensington Oval, alongside O.S. Coppin and Tony Cozier. In 1989 Short was awarded Barbados’ Silver Crown of Merit (SCM) for his contribution to cricket.
He was predeceased by his wife Ann and the thoughts and prayers of the ICC are with his son Walter, daughters Sally and Susan and four grandchildren, family and friends at this time.
