Kenya and Zimbabwe registered wins over Uganda and Tanzania

KENYA vs UGANDA
The first game of this event was played warm morning at the Country club which produced the high standard of cricket as this was a derby match between the East African teams namely Kenya and Uganda. Kenya won the toss and decided to bat. Top scorer was Sarah Wetoto who scored 29 off 25 balls. Kenya posted a total of 97 runs for 7 wickets . Top bowler for Uganda was M Ayato who took 3 for 19 runs.
Uganda went to occupy the crease and scored a total of 84 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Top scorer was N Bagenda who scored 16 runs off 28 balls. Kenya registered their first win in this local derby encounter.
ZIMBABWE vs TANZANIA
The second morning game was played at Alex Sports Club where Zimbabwe the hosts took on Tanzania. Zimbabwe won the toss and requested Tanzania who fielded a very young team to occupy the crease. The Tanzanians scored 36 runs for 7 wickets. Top scorer for the Tanzanians was M A Swedi who scored 14 in 46 balls.
Zimbabwe made short work to chase this total by posting 38 for the loss of one wicket in 9 overs. Top scorer for Zimbabwe was M Mupachikwa who scored 20 runs in 27 balls. Zimbabwe registered their first win of this event.
KENYA vs TANZANIA
Kenya won the toss and elected to bat in a very hot afternoon. Kenya posted a total of 98 for 8 in 20 overs. Top scorer for Kenya was Sharon Juma who scored 30 runs in 35 balls. The best bowler for Tanzania was K Basu who took 2 wickets for 22 runs.
The young Tanzanians were set in to bat and posted a total of 40 runs for 9 wickets. Top scorer for the Tanzanians was M Salumu who scored 12 runs from 12 balls. The chief destroyer in the bowling department was M Ngoche who took 3 wickets for 13 runs thus giving Kenya their second victory in this event.
ZIMBABWE V UGANDA
Blazing Harare sun greeted Zimbabwe and Uganda in their 2nd match of the day. Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to field. Uganda opening pair of M Nalule and N Bangenda blunted the Zimbabwe attack scoring 36 runs from 9.4 overs. M Nalule eventually top scored with 22 runs off 29 balls to help Uganda post 71 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs. T Grenger recorded the best bowling figures of 3 wickets for 11 runs in her allotted 4 overs.
Zimbabwe opening pair didn’t last long as the lost P Marange in the third over. But the middle order put Zimbabwe in control by contributing 50 percent of the required runs. S Mayers was the top scorer with 19 runs from 12 balls. S Nampiina was peak of the bowlers taking 2 wickets for 23 runs in 3.4 overs. Thus Zimbabwe earned their 2nd victory in this tournament.
