New Zealand hero Ish Sodhi was in shock after he helped his side record a remarkable last-ball victory against West Indies at the ICC Under-19 World Cup on Monday.
Chasing 238 to win the quarter-final at Endeavour Park in Townsville, New Zealand looked set for defeat at 158-5 with just eight overs left.
Cam Fletcher (49) and Connor Neynens (25) helped them towards their victory target but they still needed 18 from the final over.
Sodhi - who had faced just five balls prior to the 50th over - turned on a show though, hitting 17 of the 18 last-over runs, including a boundary from the last ball off the bowling of Justin Greaves (1-43 off eight overs) as New Zealand celebrated a remarkable victory.
"I still can't believe that it actually happened," Sodhi said afterwards.
"It feels pretty good. When it came down to the last over it was do-or-die, really.
"(Afterwards) I celebrated real big and saw the team rushing at me. It was an incredible feeling making the semi-finals of a World Cup for New Zealand."
The equation became almost impossible when New Zealand needed 12 from the final three deliveries.
But Sodhi dispatched a six over square leg, then hit a two, before he flicked a full ball through mid-wicket for four off the final delivery to help his side set up a semi-final meeting with India on Thursday.
"I was originally intending to take him cover (on the last ball) but he bowled a straight line because I was set up to hit over cover," he said.
"I had the front leg open, he bowled a low full toss on my legs and I took advantage of that and hit it over mid-wicket."
Fletcher - who was dismissed from the final ball of the penultimate over - praised Sodhi for his heroics.
"It was just an awesome experience," Fletcher said.
"Ish was amazing at the end of the game. He was outstanding. That is kind of what has defined us as a team, having fight and belief in ourselves. Today, Ish did that for us.
"It's just an incredible feeling to be involved in a game like that on such a big stage. It is just a great day."
Fletcher also paid tribute to Ben Horne who saw off the likes of Ronsford Beaton (3-47 off 10) with the new ball and made a terrific 59 from 71 deliveries.
"We played them in a warm-up game earlier and we knew they had firepower in their bowling attack," he said.
"Early on they bowled quick, short and they were trying to scare us. And to be fair they probably did that. But Ben Horne coped with that very well and hit a fabulous knock."
