India will make its tenth appearance in the ICC Under-19 World Cup and has won the title three times.

In nine previous appearances, India has reached the final on four occasions. It won the trophy for the first time in 2000, before repeating the feat in 2008 and, most recently, in 2012. India holds the record for winning the title the most number of times, thrice, the same as Australia.

Earlier in 2013, India, led by Vijay Zol, won the Tri-nation U-19 series in Australia, drew a youth Test series and the three-match one-day series in Sri Lanka and won a quadrangular series featuring South Africa, Australia and Zimbabwe in India.

India is due to play the Asian Cricket Council U-19 Asia Cup later in December.
