Papua New Guinea will come in to the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup 2014 desperate to improve its record, as its performance thus far in the event has largely been unimpressive. It had a forgettable outing in the 2012 edition, finishing in 14th place.
PNG first appeared in the 1998 edition but its best performances came in 2008 and 2010, when it reached the plate semi-finals.
PNG, under the captaincy of Dogodo Bau, won the East Asia-Pacific U-19 Championship in July 2013, defeating Vanuatu by 45 runs in the final.
