Once replaced, a player may not return to the squad save as an approved subsequent replacement for another injured or ill player.

The ICC has confirmed that the Event Technical Committee of the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2016 has approved Chemar Holder as a replacement player for Obed McCoy in the West Indies squad. McCoy has suffered a split webbing on hand and requires a minor surgery.

Any injury or illness-based replacement requires a written submission to the Event Technical Committee along with a diagnosis from a medical practitioner as to the extent of the injury or illness. Once replaced, a player may not return to the squad save as an approved subsequent replacement for another injured or ill player.

The Event Technical Committee of the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2016 includes ICC General Manager – Cricket, Geoff Allardice, ICC Head of Events, Chris Tetley, host nominees Mahbubul Anam and Mohammed Jalal Younus, and independent nominees and former international cricketers Russel Arnold and Dominic Cork.

West Indies is currently playing England in Chittagong, while its future first round matches are against Fiji and Zimbabwe in Chittagong on 31 January and 1 February, respectively.
