Englishwomen dominate Website Dream Team

Our team of writers make room for four women from the England team in the ICC Women's World Twenty20 2012 Dream Team of the group stages

Englishwomen dominate Website Dream Team - Cricket News
Charlotte Edwards is the obvious choice to lead the Dream Team.
Like their male counterparts, who have been in focus more as always, the women from the eight teams in contention at the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 2012 have put up some spectacular performances for their respective teams so far.

England, and English women, have attracted the most attention with their dominant displays, but there have been significant efforts from some of the other teams as well.

Obviously, with England, Australia, New Zealand and West Indies making it to the semi-finals, the Dream Team from the group stages of the tournament for the women is dominated by players from the four teams, but there is one, very crucial, cog in the wheel that comes in from one of the four bottom-placed teams.

Interestingly, despite her immense popularity, Deandra Dottin of the West Indies doesn’t quite fit in, simply because she hasn’t had a chance to showcase her wares in more than one match so far.

The team
Charlotte Edwards (capt – England)
Poonam Raut (India)
Meg Lanning (Australia)
Laura Marsh (England)
Stafanie Taylor (West Indies)
Sophie Devine (New Zealand)
Merissa Aguilleira (wk – West Indies)
Holly Colvin (England)
Katherine Brunt (England)
Elysse Perry (Australia)
Erin Bermingham (New Zealand)
Deandra Dottin (12th man – West Indies)
