Dale Steyn named Player of the Match
South Africa captain AB de Villiers heaped praise on his bowlers for their instrumental role in Saturday's T20I victory over England at Durham.
Paceman Dale Steyn was named the man-of-the-match but slow bowlers Robin Peterson and Johan Botha were also key with two wickets apiece in a fine all-round display in the field.
South Africa then knocked off the runs with an over to spare thanks to an unbeaten stand of 90 between Jacques Kallis (48 not out) and JP Duminy (47 not out) for the fourth wicket.
De Villiers said: "The guys, especially the bowlers, had clear plans and the way they came out made my job easier.
"The chase was really good - we obviously lost a few wickets, but all in all it was a good performance and good preparation going forward. The bowlers were on the money today."
Steyn was given the player award for his 1-13, including the wicket of Ravi Bopara, on a pitch that gave assistance to the bowlers throughout.
The quick bowler said: "The wicket was pretty slow, a little bit in it, but we were able to use the short ball with the long boundaries. It paid off today. Straight away I got a feeling as to where I should bowl."
