Umar Akmal to undergo complete medical examination to reassess the level of his fitness
Umar, 23, was injured while playing in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League, and will be replaced by Sarfraz Ahmed as the team’s main wicketkeeper in the limited-overs matches of the tour.
“PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) received the confirmation from the West Indies today about Umar not being medically fit. He has immediately been called back and will undergo complete medical examination to reassess the level of his fitness,” said a PCB statement.
Sarfraz, 26, was earlier dropped from the Pakistan after a disappointing tour of South Africa earlier this year.
Pakistan play two Tests, three One-Day Internationals and two Twenty20 Internationals on the tour, the first T20I kicking off proceedings on August 23.
