England fined for slow over-rate against Sri Lanka in Group 1 encounter - ICC T20 News
Stuart Broad fined 40 per cent of his match fee.
England has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during its ICC World Twenty20 Bangladesh 2014 Group 1 encounter against Sri Lanka at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) in Chittagong on Thursday.

David Boon of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees imposed the fines after the side, led by Stuart Broad, was ruled to be two overs short of its target when time allowances were taken into consideration.

In accordance with the regulations of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel governing minor over-rate offences, players are fined 10 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.

As such, Broad was fined 40 per cent of his match fee, while his players received 20 per cent fines. If Broad is found guilty of one more minor over-rate offence in T20Is over the next 12 months, he will receive a one-match suspension as per the provisions of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.

The offence is contrary to Article 2.5.1 of the Code, which relates to minor over-rate offences.

The full text of the Code can be found here.
