Batsman Lahiru Thirimanna’s talent was noted from a young age and he broke into the Sri Lanka one-day international team in January 2010 when he was selected to play against India. He scored 22 on debut and played three matches in 2010, before his next chance on the ODI arena came in 2012.
Thirimanna has earned a regular place in the Sri Lanka team, playing more than 80 matches and scoring more than 1700 runs, providing a more measured approach alongside Sri Lanka’s big hitters.
His first one-day ton helped steer Sri Lanka to victory at Adelaide Oval in 2013 and he scored two centuries and four fifties in 2014. The ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 will be his first appearance at the tournament.
