Once completed this ground will arguably become the most picturesque cricket venue of the country. Nestled in the middle of a tea garden the stadium announces the essence of Sylhet – tea plants, serenity, greenery and of course a tila (local term for hillocks that are so prominent around the Sylhet Division). The venue has undergone a thorough construction and renovation process in order to turn it into an international standard facility suited to host men’s tournament matches of the ICC World Twenty20 Bangladesh 2014.
Its most striking feature is the grassy mound aptly named ‘Green Gallery’. The pavilion and hospitality area, built from the scratch in the span of months will have a red tin roof designed to channel the rain water away. After all, this is the region that records the most rainfall in a year. The venue is ideally located and can be reached in 15 minutes from either the airport or the town centre.
