The Global Development team is responsible for implementing the ICC's global event qualifying structures. Regional and global qualifying tournaments form a pathway to the ICC major tournaments, with teams competing in each region, Americas, Africa, Asia, East Asia Pacific and Europe in a division format at the start of the pathway before climbing the ladder to global qualifying tournaments and continuing on the pathway to ICC major tournaments.
Men's senior events at regional level gives the opportunity for a variety of countries to climb the international cricket ladder to the ICC Cricket World Cup through the qualifying events which lead to the four divisions of ICC World Cricket League and through to the ICC World Cricket League Championship. The ICC World Twenty20 qualifying pathway starts at regional level with qualifiers from regional divisions competing in the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier and through to the ICC World Twenty20, view the qualfication pathway here.
Qualification for the ICC Women's World Cup and ICC Women's World Twenty20 starts in the regions with qualifying events taking place across the five regions, with qualification spots up for grabs in the global qualifiers for both the ICC Women's World Cup and ICC Women's World Twenty20. There is a four-day first class competition for the top eight Associate Members, the ICC Intercontinental Cup, which can be accessed via the global qualification pathway.
The ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup qualification structure begins with regional divisions and with winners from each region qualifying directly into the ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup, view the qualification pathway here.
In 2017 there are 14 regional qualifying events across the world, the culmination of the ICC Intercontinental Cup, ICC World Cricket League Championship and the continuation of ICC World Cricket League.
