Adam Gilchrist, the former wicketkeeper from Australia, is regarded as the greatest wicketkeeper batsman of all time. The record-breaking keeper holds the record for the most number of dismissals in ODIs (472) and the most for Australia in Test cricket. Gilchrist was famed for his integrity as a walker when he believed he was out, sometimes contrary to the umpire's decision.
He made his debut for Australia in 1996 and scored over 15,000 runs in international cricket. The century he scored in the 2006 Ashes against England in Perth was the second fastest in the history of Test cricket; he reached his century in 57 balls. He scored 149 off 104 balls in the 2007 World Cup final that Australia won.
