Nigeria upset Rwanda, Sierra Leone get first win and Uganda's unbeaten run continues in ICC U19 Men's Cricket World Cup Africa Qualifier Division 2
Rwanda U19 Vs Nigeria U19
Rwanda suffered their first defeat of the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup qualifying campaign after Nigeria beat them by seven wickets in a dominant performance at The Gahanga Main Oval.
Having won the toss and opted to bat first, Rwanda were bowled out for just 79 runs in 23.1 overs, failing to reproduce the strong batting form that had earned them convincing victories in their opening two matches.
Fresh from wins over Sierra Leone and Mozambique, the hosts struggled with the bat throughout their innings and were unable to build meaningful partnerships.
Fabrice Kwizera was Rwanda’s leading scorer with 12 runs off 32 balls, while Cedrick Cyuzuzo contributed seven from 20 deliveries. Captain Jasper Nziza also endured a difficult outing, managing only five runs from 11 balls.
In response, Nigeria made light work of the chase, reaching 84 for three in 15.2 overs to secure a seven-wicket victory and strengthen their position in the qualification race.
Kenneth Boniface sealed the win in style, hitting the decisive six to remain unbeaten on seven runs from five balls. His match-winning contribution earned him the Player of the Match award.
Ali Rahmon top-scored for Nigeria with 24 runs from 38 balls, while Peculiar Egemasi added 19 from 20 deliveries as the visitors comfortably chased down their target.
