India and Pakistan have met 124 times in ODI cricket with Pakistan winning 71 matches and India 49 with four no-results.

They have met twice in the ICC Champions Trophy with Pakistan winning both meetings. It won by three wickets at Birmingham in 2004 and by 54 runs at Centurion in 2009.

India was joint-winners of the tournament in 2002. Pakistan has never reached the final.

India has played five ODIs at Birmingham, winning two and losing three. Pakistan has played ten games at the venue, winning four and losing six.

41 day ODIs have been played at the ground.18 have been won batting first and 19 batting second with one tie and three no-results.

Recent ODI form

India has won six and lost three of its nine ODI matches in 2013. It beat the West Indies by eight wickets at the Oval second time out, having beaten South Africa by 26 runs at Cardiff in its first match.

Pakistan has played 12 ODIs so far in 2013, winning five and losing six with one tie. It lost to South Africa by 67 runs at Birmingham in its second match, having lost to the West Indies by two wickets at The Oval first time out.

No matter what the result, India will stay top of the Reliance ICC One-Day International Championship and Pakistan will remain in sixth place.

Virat Kohli is India’s highest-ranked batsman in third place.  In his last 19 matches he averages 62.93 with five centuries. MS Dhoni is in sixth place, with Suresh Raina also in the world’s top 20.

Ravindra Jadeja became the first Indian bowler to take a five-wicket haul in the ICC Champions Trophy against the West Indies.  His last six matches have brought him 168 runs and 16 wickets at 10.18 to move him to 4th in the world’s bowling and all-rounders tables.

R Ashwin is also inside the top 20 bowlers, and Ishant Sharma has 14 wickets in nine ODIs so far this year.

Misbah-ul-Haq is at his highest career ranking of eighth.  His last 11 matches have brought him 524 runs at an average of 65.50 with five fifties.

Most of the other Pakistani batsmen have struggled in the competition so far, but Nasir Jamshed has progressed up to number 36 with the bat.

Saeed Ajmal is in second position in the ODI bowling rankings, 37 points behind Sunil Narine. His last 16 matches have brought him 34 wickets at 18.38.

Mohammad Hafeez is just behind him in fifth place with the ball, with the leading Pakistani seamers Junaid Khan in 42nd and Mohammad Irfan at a career-best 64th.

Mohammad Hafeez is also the top all-rounder according to the current rankings.
