Yuvraj was recalled to the Indian limited-overs teams for the series against Australia at home last year, but while he won India a Twenty20 International almost singlehandedly, his failures in the ODIs in that series and then in South Africa led to him being dropped for the tour of New Zealand. Between the series against Australia and South Africa, however, he did score a half-century in the ODI series against West Indies.
Harbhajan, meanwhile, hasn’t played for the national team since the Hyderabad Test against Australia in March 2013.
The national selectors also named Unmukt Chand, Stuart Binny, Kedar Jadhav, Mandeep Singh, Karn Sharma, Ishwar Pandey, Rajat Bhatia, Sanju Samson and Shahbaz Nadeem, none of who have played an international match yet.
The selectors also named a 30-member provisional squad for the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 2014, which will be played alongside the men’s event.
The men’s event starts from March 16 and the women’s edition begins a week later on March 23. Both will get over on April 6.
