ICC Men’s Player of the Month nominees for May 2025 named

Two stellar all-rounders and a clinical opening batter in the race to be crowned the ICC Men's Player of the Month for May 2025.

Brandon McMullen (Scotland)

The Scotland all-rounder rose to the occasion for his side in their ongoing push in ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2.

McMullen closed the month with 233 runs from five ODI outings at a strike rate of 107.87, averaging 58.25. He also claimed 10 wickets at an economy rate of 5.08.

The 25-year-old’s consistent displays with the bat against the United Arab Emirates saw him score two half-centuries.

His best outing, though, came against Netherlands at Utrecht, as he struck his fourth ODI hundred to power Scotland to 380/9, their highest-ever ODI total.

McMullen then went on to register figures of 4/55 as Scotland wrapped up a 145-run win.

Milind Kumar (USA)

Another performer who starred with both bat and ball in the ODI format in May, Milind Kumar was instrumental in the USA’s successful Cricket World Cup League 2 patch.

The right-handed batter amassed 201 runs from four matches, averaging 67. Kumar was also handy with the ball, taking nine wickets over the course of the month.

The 34-year-old’s standout display came against Oman in Lauderhill, when he became the first player from the USA to score a fifty and take five wickets in the same ODI.

Having nabbed his career-best figures in the format in the first innings, Kumar went on to score 68 off 65 deliveries to help take the game into a Super Over.

Another remarkable outing from Kumar saw him plunder an unbeaten 115 off 67 deliveries against Canada - his second ton in the format, with 12 boundaries and five maximums.

Muhammad Waseem (UAE)

The UAE skipper led from the front in a memorable month for his side that saw them notch a historic T20I series win over Bangladesh.

Waseem scored back-to-back half-centuries in the three-match T20I series as UAE bounced back to overcome a 1-0 deficit.

His standout performance came in the second T20I, as the opener powered 82 off 42 deliveries in a close contest as UAE edged past Bangladesh by two wickets.

Waseem finished with 145 runs from the three matches and was named Player of the Series as UAE eventually closed out the series with a 2-1 win.

The UAE captain also amassed 169 runs from five ODI outings during the month.
