ICC Women’s Player of the Month nominees for June 2025 revealed
Two stars from the West Indies and a South African batter are in contention for the ICC Women's Player of the Month award for June 2025.
Tazmin Brits (South Africa)
The South African opener had a stellar run with the bat in June, dominating the ODI series and carrying her fine form into the T20Is against the West Indies. Her consistent performances earned her the Player of the Series award in the ODI series.
She got off to a strong start in the ODI series, scoring 57 off 65 balls in the first match. However, her performance dipped in the second ODI, where she struggled to find rhythm and managed just 26 off 54 deliveries. Any doubts about her form were quickly put to rest in the third ODI, where she smashed her fourth ODI century—an impressive 101 off 91 balls. Across the three-match series, Brits amassed 184 runs at an average of 61.33 and a strike rate of 87.61.
She continued her impressive form in the T20I encounters, smashing an unbeaten 98* in the first match, which earned her the Player of the Match award. However, her final two innings yielded scores of 14 and 20, as South Africa went on to lose the T20I series 2-1 to the West Indies.
In total, the opener scored 132 runs in the T20I series at an average of 66 and a strike rate of 122.22.
Hayley Matthews (West Indies)
The West Indies skipper was in fine form with the bat as she guided her side to a 2-1 T20I series victory against South Africa.
She had a slow but solid start to the ODI series against South Africa, registering scores of 40 and eight before notching up a well-played half-century.
With the ball, she chipped in by claiming four wickets at an average of 34.25. Despite West Indies winning the opening match, they lost the next two to concede the series 2-1. In total, Matthews scored 104 runs at an average of 34.66 and a strike rate of 94.54 across the three ODIs.
The skipper truly showed her class in the T20I series, scoring 147 runs at an average of 73.50 and a strike rate of 120.49, while also picking up two wickets.
After a modest 19 in the first match, she anchored the innings with unbeaten knock of 63* and then 65, leading West Indies to fight back from a 0-1 deficit to win the series 2-1.
Her all-round brilliance earned her the Player of the Series award in the T20Is.
Afy Fletcher (West Indies)
The leggie topped the wicket-taking charts in both the T20I and ODI series against South Africa and played a key role in West Indies' T20I series triumph.

She played a crucial role in West Indies’ comeback, with figures of 2/13 in the second T20I and 2/28 in the final match helping to restrict South Africa and guide her team to a 2-1 series victory.
