West Indies standout ruled out of Guwahati ODI
Centurion from opening ODI against India succumbs to calf injury.
West Indies opener Justin Greaves has been ruled out of the second ODI against India in Guwahati with a calf injury.
Greaves sustained the injury during the first ODI in Thiruvananthapuram during his innings of 101 off 108 balls, his maiden century in the format.
The all-rounder had called for attention multiple times in his innings, limping and struggling to run at several points of his innings. After reaching three figures, he was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav, and did not appear in West Indies' fielding effort.
Greaves is also in doubt for the third ODI on October 3 and forces a reshuffle in both the West Indies' batting order and bowling plans.
Sherfane Rutherford, who missed the opening game due to personal reasons, is likely to slot into the middle-order.
The tourists lost the opening ODI by eight wickets, scoring 295/7 in their 50 overs, only for India to chase down the target in 41.4 overs.
The second ODI will take place on Wednesday, with the third ODI scheduled to be held on October 3. The two teams will then play a five-match T20I series from October 6, with Greaves already not selected in the squad.
