No play in second ODI

Waterlogged outfield forces abandonment of game between Scotland and Pakistan in Edinburgh

No play in second ODI - Cricket News
Pakistan's preparation for the Champions Trophy was hampered as rain abandonded the second ODI in Scotland.
The second One-Day International between Scotland and Pakistan was washed out on Sunday (May 19) after severe waterlogging deemed the outfield unfit for play in Edinburgh.

Heavy overnight rain had left the outfield sodden. Mark Hawthorn and Ian Ramage, the umpires for the match, ordered as many as five pitch inspections, while the ground staff was given until almost four hours after the scheduled start of play to address the problem. But it was eventually decided the pitch was in no condition for play.

"It's really disappointing. We hung about for quite a while today hoping to get even a T20 match in but it wasn't to be," said Kyle Coetzer, the Scotland captain.

Pakistan, who won the first ODI on Friday by 96 runs, was using the double header and another two matches in Ireland next week as preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy 2013, which begins in England on June 6.

Pakistan is placed in Group B alongside India, South Africa and West Indies.
