Match between Ireland and Italy abandoned without a ball being bowled.
The ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier Group A encounter between Ireland and Italy was abandoned without a ball being bowled at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Thursday (November 21).
 
Ireland came into the match having beaten USA by 75 runs on Wednesday. It is the only team with an unbeaten record in the tournament until now. The defeat left USA at the bottom of Group A with just one win from four games.
 
Ireland, by virtue of the abandoned game, earned one point and sit pretty at the top of the table with nine points, one point clear Hong Kong, with two games to go.  
 
Italy headed into the game on the back of a three-wicket defeat to Namibia in a last-ball thriller. Currently placed fifth in Group A with three points, Italy has won just one out of its five matches, when it beat United States of America by six wickets on November 16.
 
Italy next faces UAE on November 23, while Ireland takes on Uganda on November 22.
