Herath and Shaminda Eranga also back, with Mendis and Lakmal excluded for Sri Lanka’s two-Test series against England

Prasanna Jayawardene returns to Test squad - Cricket News
Sri Lanka names 15-man squad for Test series against England.
Prasanna Jayawardene returned to Sri Lanka’s Test squad for its two-match series against England, which gets underway at Lord’s from June 12.

An integral part of the side in the longer format, Prasanna had to fly back home from Bangladesh in February this year to attend to his ailing father, who passed away shortly after.

The selectors also included Rangana Herath and Shaminda Eranga in a 15-man squad led by Angelo Mathews. Both Herath and Eranga had withdrawn from the team that beat Bangladesh 1-0 because of injuries.

Herath replaced Ajantha Mendis, while Eranga came in for Suranga Lakmal, who sustained a grade two tear on his right hamstring in the first One-Day International against England on May 22.

All of Vishwa Fernando, Thisara Perera, Ashan Priyanjan and Kithuruwan Vithanage did not find a place, while Chanaka Welegedera and Dhammika Prasad were recalled.

Left-arm seamer, Welegedera, last represented Sri Lanka in the longer format in the Boxing Day Test against Australia in December 2010.

The last time Sri Lanka played in a Test series in England, it lost 1-0 in 2011.
