Ireland make short work of Pakistan’s 97 - Cricket News
Cecelia Joyce top scored with a 41-ball 30 in Ireland's victory over Pakistan.
Ireland Women beat Pakistan Women by six wickets in the second match of the PCB Qatar Women's 20-over Tri-Series at West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha on Sunday (January 19). Isobel Joyce was named the Player of the match for her all-round performance.

Sent in to bat, Pakistan employed a slow approach to it’s innings, reaching 38 losing Nain Abidi (1) and Javeria Rauf (17), inside the first 10 overs. Isobel went past Sidra Ameen’s defense off the first ball after the half way mark to hand Ireland the third wicket. Nida Dar and Bismah Maroof held the innings together from then on but failed to accelerate, ending Pakistan’s innings on 97 for 4 in 20 overs.

Chasing at a required run rate of just 4.85, Ireland got off to a steady start reaching 25 for no loss in the first four overs, before Sania Khan trapped Emma Flanagan leg before for nine. Pakistan threatened with two quick wickets soon after, with Clare Shillington (15) and Elena Tice (1) departing in the seventh over leaving Ireland on 35 for 3. This brought Isobel and Cecelia Joyce together, who put together 44 runs for the fourth wicket to take their side within touching distance of a victory. With 19 runs required in the final four overs, Cecelia and Melissa Scott-Hayward completed a comfortable win for Ireland with two balls to spare.

The two sides meet again on Monday in Doha for the fourth match of the tournament.
